11 Passengers Dead, In Second Road Accident This Week In Zimbabwe

Eleven people died and 119 others were injured in yet another road accident in Kamativi, Zimbabwe
HARARE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2017 ) : Eleven people died and 119 others were injured in yet another road accident in Kamativi, Zimbabwe on Thursday morning, just two days after an accident claimed 10 lives and injured 13 others in Murehwa on Monday, state media reported on Friday.
The state broadcaster reported that the acident in Kamativi, 426-km west of Harare, occured when a lorry carrying 130 members of an apostolic sect burst a tyre, veered off the road and plunged into a gorge.
Police said 10 peopel died on the spot while one person died at Kamativi clinic.
The accident happened around 4 a.m. as the 10-tonne truck was ferrying worshippers to a church conference in Hwange.
According to the police, the truck developed a mechanical fault and veered off the road. "We heard a loud burst so we were not sure whether it was the brakes or the tyre. So the truck just veered off the road and overturned," said one of the survivors Clever Ncube.
Police chief for Hwange District Newton Mutumba appelaed to motorists to desist from drving during the night as a way of avoiding police road blocks.
