Militants Mortared 2 Syrian Provinces, Aleppo Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) Militants have mortared settlements in the Syrian provinces of Latakia and Hama, as well as the area of the research center in Aleppo and the outskirts of the city over the past 24 hours, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said on Monday.
"Over the past day, terrorists mortared Chiftliq-Hanifa, Bsharfa, Sandran and the height of Tall-Metvazi in Latakia province, Niha, Achan (two times), Tall-Bazam and al-Fhayl in Hama province, and northwestern and southwestern outskirts, the district of research centre in Aleppo," Solomatin said at a briefing.
Solomatin added that over the past 24 hours, the center had held no humanitarian actions.
Assistance in restoring infrastructure and creating conditions for the return of refugees is continuing, he added.
"As for December 16, a total of 30,866 houses, 712 education facilities and 118 medical centers have been restored, 939 kilometers [583 miles] of roads have been repaired," the military said.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
