The new models of weaponry that will be supplied to the Russian army as a result of the implementation of the current state armament procurement program are superior to similar foreign models, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
KUBINKA (outside Moscow) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) The new models of weaponry that will be supplied to the Russian army as a result of the implementation of the current state armament procurement program are superior to similar foreign models, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
"This year we started implementing the new program, which will continue until 2027.
As a result of this program, new, advanced weaponry should arrive in the army, which surpass the foreign equivalents in tactical and technical characteristics," Putin said at a meeting of the military- industrial commission.
"But we need to move forward, and already today start planning the development and production of prospective weapons for the future, the weaponry that will determine the face of the Russian Armed Forces for a long term, for the coming decades," the Russian president stressed.
