Peterhof Palace Becomes Most Visited Russian Museum in 2018 - Culture Minister

The Peterhof State Museum-Reserve, located in Petergof, St. Petersburg, had received some 4.8 million visitors in 2018 and became the most visited Russian museum, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said Thursday.

ST. PETERSBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) The Peterhof State Museum-Reserve, located in Petergof, St. Petersburg, had received some 4.8 million visitors in 2018 and became the most visited Russian museum, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said Thursday.

"All Russian museums have been visited by 125 million people that is 40 percent more than in 2012. I would like to draw your attention to the extraordinary growth of Federal museums' income from services - plus 123 percent over the past five years. The most visited museum is Peterhof. Almost five million visitors," Medinsky said at the lecture within the framework of the St.

Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

Peterhof State Museum-Reserve is the series of palaces and gardens in St. Petersburg laid out by the orders of Peter the Great. It covers 414.2 hectares of parks and gardens with 32 museums and more than 150 fountains on its territory. The palace ensemble along with the city center is recognized as the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site.

The 7th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, a debating platform that gathers thousands of culture experts from around the world, opened on Thursday and will last through Saturday.
