Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Sputnik he had held talks in Khartoum with Sudan's new leadership, adding that Moscow was determined to develop relations with the republic in all areas
A Sudanese Foreign Ministry source earlier said Bogdanov would arrive in Khartoum on Wednesday.
"The meeting went well, the conversation was positive.
Talks were held with the new leadership of Sudan - with the chairman and deputy chairman of the transitional military council. The mood is to continue our traditionally friendly relations and continue cooperation, maintain political dialogue," Bogdanov said.
He said Russian companies would continue operating in Sudan after the change of power in the country, and added that Moscow would keep developing traditionally friendly relations with Sudan's new authorities.
"We will help the Sudanese people to overcome the current difficulties," Bogdanov said.
