Russia's Brand New Sarmat Missile Can 'Tear Apart' Any Missile Defense - Roscosmos Chief

Russia's new intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat will be able to tear any missile defense system to shreds, Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin said on Friday
"This is a heavy ballistic missile that can cope with, tear apart literally any missile defense existing [missile defense], future one, it does not matter," Rogozin said as aired by Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
According to Rogozin, Roscosmos' enterprises stick to schedule in all major aspects of the country's defense order. Rogozin said he hoped that the Defense Ministry would not have any claims against Roscosmos.
The state-of-the-art RS-28 Sarmat (NATO reporting name SS-X-30), a heavy thermonuclear intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), is one of the new weapons in Russia's strategic arsenal, which Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled back in 2018. The missile is expected to replace the aging Voyevoda ICBMs. The weapon is said to have extended range, which allows it to reach the territory of the United States from the south, where it cannot be stopped by anti-ballistic interceptors deployed in Alaska.
