A senior US Treasury Department employee has been charged with illegally disclosing to the media suspicious activity reports (SARs) about transactions made by Russian diplomats and Russia's alleged involvement in 2016 presidential election campaign, according to a court document released on Wednesday.

"The data in the Second August 2018 Article [titled "Why the FBI and Mueller Are Investigating 'Suspicious' Transactions Made by Russian Diplomats] was obtained from SARs."
