Farmers Advised Not To Burn Paddy Stubble

Punjab Agriculture Secretary Wasif Khurshid Friday said, farmers were advised not to burn the residue of crops as it causes air pollution (Smog).
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Oct, 2018 ) :Punjab Agriculture Secretary Wasif Khurshid Friday said, farmers were advised not to burn the residue of crops as it causes air pollution (Smog).
Wasif Khurshid said smog put negative impacts on growth of plants besides affecting per acre yield.
He said that residue of crops should not be burnt instead it must be mixed in land to make it fertile.
Field assistants were monitoring paddy stubble burning incidents on daily basis and report in this regard was being provided to the Director (M&E) and to their respective divisional directors, he maintained.
The secretary said that legal action would be taken under section-144 against farmers who were found burning the paddy stubbles.
Wasif Khurshid appealed farmers to cooperate with the agriculture department in this regard.
