Canada job numbers surge, unemployment flat at 7.0%

OTTAWA,, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Oct, 2016 ) - Canada clobbered expectations to create 67,000 new jobs in September, but the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.0 percent, the government statistical agency said Friday.

Economists had forecasts a mere 7,500 new jobs would be created in the month, but the actual number marked the largest employment gain in four years.

Most of the new work was part-time, located in Quebec, Alberta and New Brunswick provinces, Statistics Canada noted.
