Forces allied to the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad likely used tear gas against civilians in Aleppo in November, Department of State Spokesperson Robert Palladino said in a press release on Friday.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 07th December, 2018) Forces allied to the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad likely used tear gas against civilians in Aleppo in November, Department of State Spokesperson Robert Palladino said in a press release on Friday.

"On November 24, 2018, the Assad regime and Russia falsely accused the opposition and extremist groups of conducting a chlorine attack in northwestern Aleppo," Palladino said. "The United States strongly refutes this narrative and has credible information that pro-regime forces likely used tear gas against civilians in Aleppo on November 24."

He added that the United States has information indicating Russian and Syrian personnel were involved in the tear gas incident.
