SPI-based weekly inflation rises by 0.20 percent

The inflation during the week ended on November 8 for the combined income group registered increase of 0.20 percent as compared to the previous week

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Nov, 2018 ) :The inflation during the week ended on November 8 for the combined income group registered increase of 0.20 percent as compared to the previous week.

The Sensitive price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 237.7 points against 237.22 points registered in the previous week, said data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released here on Friday.

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 4.32 percent.

The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-08=100, covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs8,000 also increased by 0.19 percent as it rose to 219.16 points in the previous week from 218.74 points in the week under review.

As compared to last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs8001-12,000, Rs12,001-18,000, 18,001-35,000 and above Rs35000 also increased by 0.19 percent, 0.20 percent, 0.21 percent and 0.21 percent respectively.

During the week under review average prices of 09 items registered decrease, while that of 19 items increased with the remaining 25 items' prices unchanged.

The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included tomatoes, onions, LPG cylinder, pulse masoor, gur, pulse gram, garlic, vegetable ghee (loose), and sugar.

The items which recorded increase in their average prices included potatoes, chicken, eggs, match box, powdered milk, tea, pulse mash, red chilly, firewood whole, tea prepared, bananas, cooking oil (tin), vegetable ghee (tin), shirting, mustard oil, pulse moong, wheat flour, and wheat.
