Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will persistently pursue free-education initiative for four specific categories - prisoners, handicapped, transgender community and drop-out girls - to ensure their emancipation in future life
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2020 ) :Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will persistently pursue free-education initiative for four specific categories - prisoners, handicapped, transgender community and drop-out girls - to ensure their emancipation in future life.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum has clearly set out policy objectives that these people should take optimum benefit of AIOU's incentives, so as to ensure their future targets and to have a dignified life in the society.
The AIOU's standing policy fully focuses on taking care of marginalized sections of society and ensuring that nobody may be deprived of education, due to financial constraints, according to press release on Wednesday.� It is also aimed at encouraging these people to come into main-stream� educational network.
The University has already opened first-phase of admissions that covers� Matric, F.A. MS/M.Ph, PhD programs. Persons of four-categories could apply for the admission by February 21 in line with prescribed rules and procedure, as laid down in the prospectus.� The admission facility is provided to the prisoners through the relevant jail authorities, while persons of other categories have been advised to apply through the University's Regional office of their respective area.
� It may be mentioned here that the University also extends free Maric�level education to the people from the marginalized areas that include Baluchistanand the Tribal regions. It also provides various scholarships to the deservingpeople.
