USAID To Setup Five Mother & Child Hospitals

USAID has offered cooperation to Punjab Health Department for setting up five Mother and Child hospitals in different districts of the province.
USAID would also join hands with the Health Department for improving health services in the public sector.
In this regard, a delegation, led by Director Health US-AID Sangeeta Patel, called on Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid here on Tuesday and discussed various ongoing joint projects with her.
"The Punjab government strongly believes in taking solid initiatives for saving lives of mothers and children and protecting their health," said the minister.
She told the delegation that for the first time in the history of the country, five hospitals exclusively for mother and child would be set up in five different districts besides a state-of-the-art Mother and Child centre at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital would also be established, she added.
All efforts were being made to achieve certain targets, given by Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, the minister said and added that provision of health facilities at gross-roots level was also being ensured.
USAID Director Health Sangeeta Patel, while acknowledging initiatives for improvement of public health sector, said on the occasion that Punjab was playing leading role for strengthening health services. "USAID would enhance itscooperation for achieving certain goals," she added.
