AJK President Urges Affluent To Help Orphans, Destitute Children

RAWALAKOT (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2019 ) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President, Sardar Masood Khan has asked affluent members of the society to help orphans and destitute children to seek blessings of Almighty Allah.
“It is our collective responsibility to provide equal opportunities to orphans, widows and needy people to make them part of thriving communities,” the president said while addressing a groundbreaking ceremony of SOS Children’s Village at Dhamani near Rawalakot. The ceremony was also addressed by Ms Saba Faisal, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan while Children of SOS Village presented welcome songs to greet the guests on their arrival at the event. Describing the care of orphans and abandoned children as the nobler cause, President Masood Khan said it is not just our social responsibility as a human being but it is something enjoins in the Quran and the Quran repeatedly mentions our responsibilities towards orphans and the destitute. He said treating orphans with compassion and love in light of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who himself was an orphan had a great reward in this world and in the life hereafter. “By following the tradition of the prophet we are answering the highest call for humanity; the president said and added that all those who were involved in this project were blessed by Allah Almighty.
He said Islam stressed protecting the rights of orphans including the safeguarding of their wealth and property as a religious and social obligation of the believers. The management of SOS Children’s Village was doing great service to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khan said and assured on behalf of the people of AJK and the government to continue support to all the endeavours of SOS wholeheartedly in future as well. Speaking on the occasion National Director of the SOS Children Village Pakistan, Ms Saba Faisal said SOS Children’s Village Pakistan was proud to be making a meaningful contribution to nation building by developing a comprehensive social program for rehabilitating the most vulnerable members of our society –orphans and abandoned children. She said this was our duty, both as concerned human beings, and as good Muslims, upon whom the Quran enjoins the same care of orphans as of one’s own offspring. The SOS Children’s Village official also expressed her profound gratitude to the government of Azad Kashmir for awarding a valuable piece of land for construction of the village and facilitating the project in many other ways.
