Pakistan, world insisted to check India from Article 35-A abrogation attempts

Chairman South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights (SACFPHR), Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl exposed Indian designs of abrogating the article 35-A to bring demographic change in Indian Occupied Kashmir and appealed Pakistan and world community to take immediate and appropriate steps against unlawful policies of India

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2019 ) :Chairman South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights (SACFPHR), Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl exposed Indian designs of abrogating the article 35-A to bring demographic change in Indian Occupied Kashmir and appealed Pakistan and world community to take immediate and appropriate steps against unlawful policies of India.

"India has the ulterior motives to abrogate the article 35-A for bringing demographic change in IOK," Shawl said while addressing a press conference here.

He said that it has been the election manifesto of ruling party BJP to abrogate the Article 35-A, while it had been carrying out election campaign across India to further pollute the minds of Indian people with hatred and prejudice against Kashmiris.

"The government of Pakistan should take immediate and appropriate diplomatic offensive against the Indian unlawful policies of interfering in the existing legal status of IOK, which is disputed territory as per the United Nations Resolutions and according to various mutual agreements between India and Pakistan" he added.

He said that there was a threat that India might unilaterally abrogate Article 35-A or might influence the Supreme Court to do so, however warned that whatever the case, the result would be disastrous.

He was of the views that India had already eroded the Article 370 related to special status of IOK and now intending to completely abrogate the Article-35A to deprive Kashmris of the special economic and cultural protection they were provided by the Dogra Dynasty in 1927 through the State subject Rules of 1927 that subsequently was adopted by the government of IOK.

"This is right time for Pakistan and the international community to take this matter at all the forums with full zeal and commitment" he added.

He said that the campaign to expose shameful Indian attempts to abrogate the article 35A had already been launched across the world, particularly in top world centers including London, Brussels, Jiddah, Islamabad and other important cities.

He said that India was hell bent in depriving people of Kashmir of their internationally recognized right to self-determination as was working on both physical as well as constitutional fronts to fulfill its nefarious designs.

He said that physically, India was involved in gross human rights violations to suppress the voice of Kashmiris while on other side, it was trying to amend the constitution for depriving the Kashmiris of the rights protected by the Indian constitution itself.

He said that since Pakistan was an important stakeholder of the issue, so it must take immediate steps to address this issue of immediate nature.

Shawl said that India has been trying its best to relate the Kashmiris freedom struggle with terrorism as it was promoting the narrative of "terrorism in Kashmir", which he said was quite against the facts, however added that there was dire need that a counter strategy is devised to frustrate Indian designs.

He said that India was currently ruled by terrorists, terming it as "Incredible India Incredible terror," adding that the youth of occupied Kashmir have become the priority target of "Incredible state terrorism of India." He lauded the media of Pakistan for playing a very positive role during the recent Pakistan-India crisis in promoting the country's image and narratives, and expressed the hope that the media of the country would also prioritize Kashmir and provide proper space and time to Kashmir issue, particularly the pressing issue of Article 35-A abrogation.

To a question, he said that the pro-Indian political parties were using slogans against abrogation of Article 35-A to promote their political designs and hoodwink the people of Kashmir to lure them to polling booths.

He, however, was of the view that people of Kashmir were well aware of the designs of the pro-Indian political parties as there was a clear line between pro-Indian and Pro-Freedom camps in occupied Kashmir.
