2-day Seminar On "Building Regulations And Bylaws For Galiyat Region" Begins

A two-day seminar on "Building Regulations and Bylaws for Galiyat Region" jointly conducted by the Department of Architecture, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Abbottabad Campus and Galiyat Development Authority got under way at Galiyat, Abbottabad
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2019 ) :A two-day seminar on "Building Regulations and Bylaws for Galiyat Region" jointly conducted by the Department of Architecture, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Abbottabad Campus and Galiyat Development Authority got under way at Galiyat, Abbottabad.
The Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, he said, there is a dire need to setup a framework for devising realistic policy making decisions to address constant development and amendments in the building regulations and bylaws for Galiyat region.
He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr Syed Asif Ali Shah, Coordinator Abbotabad Campus and Ar. Faisal Rehman for taking the lead and urged the participants to place comprehensive recommendations while taking different environment related issues in the GDA bye-regulations.
Anwar Zeb DG (acting) GDA said, the existing building control and Bylaws formulated by the GDA authorities are not broadly serving the real the current issues and have enough room for improvement by looking into the natural topographical terrain, thick foliage and entourage.
Later, renowned Architect, Kaleem Siddiqui urged the need to start courses and academic research relevant to the geographical hills of Gilyat not focusing on real estate sector as it will destroy the natural beauty of this region .
He also urged to revise the By Laws while looking into the Master Plan of Galiyat. He appealed the GDA officials, to stop any development work unless the by-laws are approved for effective implementation in Galiyat.
The high officials from the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town planners, Executive Director Innayt Ullah Wasim, Urban Planning Unit, KPK, officials, Dean Faculty of Architecture, UET Peshawar Prof Dr. Siraj-ul-Islam and experts were present on the occasion.
