81-km Long Swat Expressway To Be Completed By May 2019: Minister

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Dec, 2018 ) :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Construction and Communication Akbar Ayub Khan Friday told provincial assembly that stretched on 81-kilometer, the Swat expressway would be completed by May 2019.
Responding during question-hour session, he said the project would be extended 70-kilometer upto Bagh Dheri area in Swat to facilitate maximum people, adding that work on 55 kilometer of Swat expressway has already been completed.
Earlier, ANP parliamentary leader in the assembly Sardar Hussain Babak questioned that as to why the provincial government was giving Rs 11 billion loan to FWO for Swat expressway.
The Minister responded that Swat Expressway was being constructed on public-private partnership and if someone has concern over the spending, he could file a complaint with NAB.
MMA's Inaytullah on a supplementary question said that expressway was to complete in December this year but delayed for more five months.
He said that contractor has been asked to complete the project within stipulated time otherwise he would be fined with Rs 3.4 million per week. The project has been given to FWO for 25 years till 2041 after which it would be handed over to the provincial government and it would earn Rs 6 billion and 300 million profit annually.
