ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2018 ) :Quaid Pakistan Muslim League(N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday reiterated that all allegations against him in the references filed in Accountability Court were baseless and false and he did not have a link with any company, property or factory.
Addressing a press conference here, he said, "I reiterate my viewpoint that all the allegations against me are baseless and false. I presented my case in the court truthfully and with full sincerity.
I leave the decision of references to the court." He said he was being labeled as a hijacker, Sicilian mafia, Godfather and traitor but it did not make a difference because he was son of Pakistan and loved every inch of his country.
"My elders migrated to Pakistan like millions of other Muslims and left everything behind. It is insult to my patriotism to get a certificate of loyalty to Pakistan from others." He said he took steps to change condition of people of Pakistan, built a network of motorways from Peshawar to Karachi.
The work done by the PMLN government in the last five years was unprecedented and billions of Dollars of investment in CPEC project was a good omen for Pakistan. He said his government brought peace to the insurgency hit Balochistan and brought normalcy in Karachi which was plagued with dead bodies in bags, extortion and strikes.
Census was held in the country after 19 years, reforms were introduced to bring FATA in the mainstream, exemplary incentives were given to farmers, youth were given job opportunities and scholarships for higher education, medical facilities were upgraded and 10,000 megawatts were added to the national grid.
Terrorism was defeated and he vociferously raised voice about cruelty of India against Kashmiri people and tried to improve relations with Afghanistan, he continued. He said he could claim that today's Pakistan was more stable, strong and bright in every sphere of life than what it was in 2013.
He said observers and intellectuals should comment about the effects of the decision of July 28, 2017 on the country's economy, political stability, energy sector, infrastructure projects and on adverse impact on the trust of businessmen and investors.
Nawaz Sharif said his disqualification and ouster from government gave satisfaction to some people but his question was whether it was good for democracy, constitution and dignity and reputation of Pakistan at the international level.
He criticized the manner in which government was changed in Balochistan and his removal from the post of party presidentship. He reminded that for the first time in seventy years, the candidates of his party for Senate elections were deprived of the symbol of lion.
He told that he appeared more than seventy times in the court which was not done by other people facing charges in courts. He said people, legal experts and international observers had given their reaction on the verdict of July 28, 2018 and he was still waiting for answers to the legal points raised by him in the All Pakistan Lawyers Convention in August 2017. more/mnr
