ATC Records Abidi's Statement In Defamation Case

An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Tuesday resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to usage of derogatory language by the former PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi against a former Chief Justice of Supreme Court recorded the statement of Abidi about the allegations leveled against him
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2019 ) :An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Tuesday resuming the hearing of a case pertaining to usage of derogatory language by the former PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi against a former Chief Justice of Supreme Court recorded the statement of Abidi about the allegations leveled against him.
The ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand was listening the case.
Faisal Raza Abidi in his statement mentioned that being a good citizen, he believed in respect of judiciary added that he was the front liner in independence movement for judiciary.
He stated that according to the Constitution of Pakistan, he respected orders of all the courts either lower or higher courts adding that Supreme Judicial Council had authorized him to criticize if any court violated the constitution of the country.
He disclosed that he had done nothing wrong or used any such language as well as said that he had already filed references against two former chief justices' in Supreme Judicial Council.
The prosecution also concluded the arguments at the statement.
The ATC after listening to the arguments adjourned the hearing till April 18.
