Commissioner Offices To Act As Price Controllers In Sindh

The Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners will also perform additional duties as Price Controllers during the holy month of Ramzan to control the profiteering
This was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah at the Sindh Secretariat here on Monday, said a statement.
The Chief Secretary Sindh called upon all departments concerned to set up complaint cells in all markets and "Bachat Bazars" to check and control profiteering during the holy month of Ramzan.
He directed that the officials of the administration and the Bureau of Supplies and Prices should ensure their availability in the complaint cells.
The meeting was told that a control room has been set up in the Sindh Secretariat under the supervision of Sindh Secretary Implementation and Coordination Dr.
Riaz Ahmed Siddiqi.
The Chief Secretary directed Dr. Riaz to coordinate with officials concerned of the Utility Store Corporation (USC) so as to ask them to ensure smooth supply of basic commodities across Sindh during Ramadan.
He said that no compromise will be made on the standard and prices of the essential commodities.
The meeting was attended by provincial secretaries concerened and commissioner Karachi while the deputy commissioners and commissioners of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad joined the meeting through video link.
He directed the Commissioner Karachi to keep a vigilant eye also on the prices of dairy and poultry products in Karachi.
