Faiz Ahmad Faiz Always Advocated Rights Of Opressed Segments Through His Poetry: Ghazala Saifi

Faiz Ahmad Faiz was an extraordinary poet and he had always advocated the rights of opressed segments of society through his impact full poetic verses.
This was stated by Parliamentary Secretary for National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Ghazala Saifi while addressing at a function arranged in connection with the death anniversary of legendary poet, Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
The function was arranged by Pakistan academy of Letters (PAL) in collaboration with Anjuman Taraqi Pasand Musanifeen and Ishara International. It was presided over by Dr. Tauseef Tabbasum.
The poets from twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad attended the function and presented their poetry.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghazala Saifi said undoubtedly Faiz was a great poet and his poetic legacy will be kept alive in the hearts of generations to come.
She said after listening to the poetry of Faiz and about his life, she has realized that we are far ahead of India in literature especially poetry.
She appreciated the efforts of PAL for arranging such events in continuity to acknowledge the literary contributions of great writers and poets of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General PAL, Rashid Hameed said Faiz is an important reference of our literary life.
He said Faiz was not only a literary, scholarly and civilized personality but a reformer too. PAL will continue to arrange such events in future to acknowledge the contributions of our national heroes, the DG said.
Prominent literary personality, Dr. Ravish Nadeem said Faiz through his thought provoking poetry has given a new colour and dimension to the scholarly wisdom of a poet.
He made social and economic aspects of people as a part of his poetry which made him universal.
Faiz always stood against dictatorship and we need to transfer his thoughts to the next generations, he said.
Renowned poets Dr. Tauseef Tabbasum, Ali Akbar Abbas, Nasim Seher, Javed Ahmad, Ali Ahmad Qamar, Mehboob Zafar, Akhtar Usman, Farhat Abbas, Mohsin Sheikh, Ali Yasir, Zahra Batool, Zafar Iqbal Shaheen,Tahira Andleeb, Munir Fayaz and many others presented their poetry.
