Leader of the House in Senate Syed Shibli Faraz Saturday said Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the loudest voice against economic and political exploitation of the weak by the powerful.

Speaking at a seminar organized by Majils-e-Amla Shehr-a-Iqbal Forum to mark 141st birthday of poet of the east Allama Muhammad Iqbal here, Senator Shibli Faraz said Iqbal was an immortal symbol of Muslim empowerment and human equality, said a press release issued here.

He appreciated the forum for taking the initiative to celebrate the very essence of Iqbal's philosophy which was praiseworthy in the present time where the Muslim world has drifted away from unity under a brotherhood.

Shibli Faraz said, "Hailing from an eastern values based background, he (Iqbal) soaked great knowledge in the fields of law and philosophy from around the world. He then coupled his knowledge and wisdom with his God-gifted talent of expression and moved a whole towards self-actualization and freedom." He said that it was not Allama Iqbal's majestic expression of emotions rather the potency of philosophy and ideas on revival of Islamic polity that inculcated the anti-imperialist sentiment against the unjust colonial power.

"This very philosophy laid the foundations of the 'Two Nation Theory', and of what we now call Pakistan," he added.

He emphasized that it was crucial to understand as Iqbal's philosophy on islam and Muslim empowerment was not distorted or mutated any way. "His thought provoking literature did not advocate any form of extremism and his ideas were not tarnished by personal interests or gains," he added.

Shibli Faraz said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had assumed power with a vision to revive Iqbal's works in the curriculum whereas his leader Prime Minister Imran Khan was highly inspired by Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He said "We pray to Allah Almighty to bestow us with the power to fulfill our promises and inherit a country to our youth the next generation to form the country in the light of Iqbal's teachings." President of Shehr-a-Iqbal Forum, Dr Shoaib Suddle said Allama Iqbal was a thinker, philosopher, poet, politician and sage of the nation.

He, on behalf of the forum, urged the incumbent government to ensure the recitation of Allama's poem 'Lab pa ati ha dua ban k tamana Meri' in the schools across the country during the assembly.

Dr Shoaib said Iqbal was also the spiritual father of this nation. He also read out some verses of Iqbal's poems to pay tribute to the poet of east.

Intellectuals, students and members of the forum deliberated upon the multidimensional aspects of Allama Muhammad Iqbal's teachings, ideology and message for the nation.
