The JIT has declared Khalil and his family as innocent while Zeeshan as terrorist.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st February, 2019) The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed to probe Sahiwal incident, has completed its report.
According to details, the report will be submitted to the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in the form of a challan.
The JIT has declared Khalil and his family as innocent while Zeeshan as terrorist.
The report said that Zeeshan had links with terrorists. The forensic experts have found dozens of Zeeshan’s messages to the terrorist.
The forensic experts noted those conversations and sent a two-page report to the JIT.
The report said that Zeeshan’s brother admitted that suspected persons often used to come to Zeeshan’s place.
According to the report, Zeeshan gave shelter to the terrorists at his house. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had received intelligence about Zeeshan upon which it took the action.
The report however admitted that Khalil’s family could have been rescued.
The report found no proof of firing on CTD officials. The six CTD officials present at the scene exceeded their mandate as they opened fire at the car.
The report has recommended taking action against the CTD officials who tried to tamper the record.
The JIT report stated that there is solid evidence about Zeeshan’s involvement in terror activities.
On January 19, CTD officials had killed four people, including a couple and their teenage daughter in an alleged encounter in Sahiwal, triggering a national outcry that prompted the government to take the security officials into custody and order an investigation into the incident.
The officials claimed that the terrorists were killed in an intelligence based operation (IBO). Three other terrorists including Shahid Jabar and Abdul Rahman managed to flee during the chase near the toll plaza of Sahiwal. They also claimed of confiscating explosives and weapons from the car adding that officers were investigating into the matter as part of the operation in Faisalabad on January 16.
Contrarily, an eye witness has told the media that the deceased were neither equipped with any weapon nor resisted officers whereas three children were also present in the car. The eyewitnesses further said that the children while speaking to them at a nearby petrol station claimed that the police have killed their parents.
Following the firing incident, the police left the children at the petrol station where they spoke to them. A few minutes later, however, CTD officials returned and took the children with them to an undisclosed location, the eyewitnesses added.
