LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2018 ) :PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday filed nomination papers to contest her first election from National Assembly seat NA-127.
Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former premier Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, submitted the nomination papers through a representative.
NA-127 consists of Baghbanpura, Kot Khawaja Saeed, China Scheme, Mehmood Booti, UET, Pakistan Mint, Singhpura and Baja Line with a total population of 819,049. Former Federal minister for Commerce and Trade, Malik Pervaiz had won election from this constituency in 2013 on the ticket of PML-N when it used to be NA-123.
Meanwhile, the process of receiving and filing of nomination papers by candidates for national and provincial assemblies in Lahore continued on the seventh day on Sunday.
Besides Maryam Nawaz, other prominent candidates who submitted nomination papers include Shafqat Mehmood for NA-130, Abdul Aleem Khan for NA-129, Shahbaz Bhatti for NA-133, Hina Pervaiz Butt for PP-158 and PP-159, Ghazali Saleem Butt for PP-144, Azizur Rehman Chan for PP-156.
Prominent candidates who received nomination forms are Hamza Shehbaz for NA-132, Khawaja Saad Rafique for NA-134, Ijaz Chaudhry for NA-133 and Rana Mashhood for PP-147.
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) new schedule, candidates can submit their nomination papers till June 11 and the initial list of candidates will be displayed on the same day.
