Minister For Expediting Work On Residential, Development Schemes For Labourers

LAHORE,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has stressed the need for expediting work on residential and development schemes for labourers and their families with an aim to maintain transparency and merit.
He said this during a meeting with newly appointed Secretary Punjab Workers Welfare board (PWWB) Syed Waqar Hussain here on Tuesday. Secretary PWWB briefed the minister about the status of schemes and said that 100 percent work on Labor Colony Warburton, Nankana Sahib with the total cost of Rs 926.126 million, comprising 208 flats, separate higher schools for both boys and girls, community center, mosque and other basic amenities has been completed.
He informed that DCO Nankana Sahib had requested to complete the allotment process to enable the Board to inaugurate this colony at the earliest. Work on Labor Welfare Complex Multan with the total amount of Rs 3017.847 million comprising 992 flats and other facilities was underway and 60 percent work has been completed, he added.
The minister was briefed that extension work of Workers Welfare Girls High school Dandot with the total cost of Rs 46.
781 million has been completed as five classrooms for 200 students, science laboratories and other facilities are provided there.
The minister said that Workers Welfare Primary School Sher-e-Bangaal Labour Colony had been completed and its total cost was Rs 185.46 million as 50 classrooms, library, arts & computer room and other facilities were provided to more than 1500 students here.
Minister Labor Raja Ashfaq Sarwar directed the concerned officers to provide drinking water, sewerage, electricity and other facilities in all these schemes on priority basis. He directed the newly appointed Secretary PWWB to streamline the administrative affairs of the Board and ensure redressal of the grievances of labour community by solving the issues of their financial grants.
He further directed the concerned officers to take disciplinary action against the responsible who created unnecessary hurdles in the matters of financial grants of the labour community and no political pressure would be accepted in this regard. Director Works Muhammad Mazhar and other concerned officers of the Board attended the meeting.
