NAB Arrests Accused In Customs Dry Port Corruption Case

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested accused Jameel Ahmad Jan, CEO M/s Jan Builder Peshawar allegedly involved in corruption and corrupt practices causing huge loss of approximately Rs.9 billion to national exchequer.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2018 ) :National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested accused Jameel Ahmad Jan, CEO M/s Jan Builder Peshawar allegedly involved in corruption and corrupt practices causing huge loss of approximately Rs.9 billion to national exchequer.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that as per Import policy 2016, import of used vehicles for more than 5 years was completely banned. However, accused Jameel Ahmad Jan, being Importer, in connivance with officials of Custom Dry Port, Peshawar and JS Bank Karachi planned to clear 1450 x construction machinery illegally and in violation of applicable rules.
The accused persons, while in connivance with each other, illegally managed to clear 488 old machinery worth more than Rs. 600 million as assessed by the department, whereas market value of the same is more than Rs.
3 billion in complete violation of Import Policy 2016. In this way, so far colossal loss of more than Rs. 9 billion has been caused to the government eExchequer. It merits mentioning here that Shahid Akbar, Principal Appraiser and Abdul Hadi, Appraiser and Hidayat Ullah, Appraiser of Customs Dry Port Peshawar and Muhammad Arafat Vice President JS Bank Karachi have already been arrested in the instant case and their bail application is rejected by the worthy courts.
In compliance with the directions of Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal to root out corruption from the society, NAB KP is vigorously pursuing the case; more facts are expected to surface. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical custody.
