NAB Balochistan Looks Into Corruption Charges Against MPAs, Govt Officers

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Thursday initiated legal proceedings against parliamentarians and government officers over corruption charges.

"Upon complaints received during the first quarter of year 2018 regarding corruption and corrupt practices, NAB started working on verification of complaints and inquiry against seven MPAs of Balochistan Assembly including Obaidullah Babat, Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Malik Kakar, Isamel Gujjar, Ineeta Irfan, Jan Mohammad Jamali and Ameer Zaman," a NAB press release issued here Thursday said.
"Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal has also given a go ahead to probe two ex Lieutenant Generals Afzal Janjua, Obaidullah Khatak and two former Brigadiers Iftikhar Mehdi and Asad Shehzada in two different cases of corruption charges," it added.
"During the same span of time, NAB Balochistan among others filed reference against former Additional Chief Secretary Balochistan Ali Zaheer Hazara, Ex Chairman Balochistan Development Authority, former Managing Director Water and Sanitation Authority Hamid Lateef Rana and arrested sitting Member of Balochistan Assembly and former food Minister Mir Izhar Khoso and Secretary Food Noor Ahmed Pirkani over serious allegation of corruption," the press release said The premier anti graft watch dog in first quarter of the current year handed over cheque of Rs 15 crore recovered from corrupt elements to Balochistan government.
Meanwhile, the untiring efforts of NAB also bore fruit and properties of over one billion accumulated by the accused in mega corrupion case also transferred to Balochistan government from Sindh besides recovery of Rs 47 crore.
Director NAB Balochistan Mirza Mohammad Irfan Baig soon after assuming office in January 2018 formed teams to arrest proclaimed offenders that yielded positive result and several POs were apprehended after the information was shared with intelligence agencies and other department by the team constituted for the said purpose, the press release said.
