New comers in Doctor of Physiotherapy warmly welcome at Habib Medical Institute

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Oct, 2016 ) : New comers in Doctor of Physiotherapy warmly welcomed at Habib Medical Institute here at Habib Physiotherapy Complex on Tuesday. MD HPC and Chairman Mehmoob school of Physiotherapy was the chief guest on this occasion.

Ahmad Hussain, AD Youth and Volunteer Department Pakistan Red Crescent, KP, Heads of the various faculty including Doctor of Physiotherapy, BS Prosthetics and Orthotics, BS MLT, DPT Advance, BS OT and PG Diploma and Speech Pathology were present on the occasion.

A total of 30 new students from various institutions all across KP enrolled this year in four-year Dr. of Physiotherapy, purely on merit while the quota, specified for person with disability, orphans and need are strictly followed.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Mehboob welcomed the students and advised them that MMI is actually provide them an opportunity to believe in volunteerism and services to humanity. He said MMI is extending its contribution toward good things as three badges of BS in Physiotherapy, two in DPT and three in PG Programs have been passed out after successful and practical base education and all of them are serving in their respective field.

The unemployment ratio in various programs is zero as all of those done their graduations and master level program have been imparting their services in the field with various organization all across the country.

He said MMI has gone through a number of structural changes before it started to function as a full-fledged Physiotherapy Complex. It started on Feb 3, 1989 to work as a Physio-Care Free Polio Clinic at PMC, Peshawar, where it provided free of charge facilities for polio affected children and arranged free polio camps on monthly basis.

Later, in the form of Physio Care was registered as NGO with the Social Welfare Department NWFP on Nov 28, 1992. The HPC in 1998, started to function as a comprehensive Rehabilitation Complex for the physically disabled persons with 15 Beds facility for indoor admissions, as a Center for monoplegic, hemiplegics and paraplegic patients and other physically disabled personals.

Currently, it is functioning as a full-fledged physiotherapy treatment hospital along with academic institute in physiotherapy. He said, HPC is providing treatment to the physically disabled, polio, CP, Hemiplegic and other paralyzed patients.

The MCP, he said, was established in 2000, an academic institute in physiotherapy, preparing skilled manpower not only to serve humanity but to manage his and her own by having job as well. It is affiliated with KP Medical Faculty for its 6-18 months training course in physiotherapy and with Gandhara University, Peshawar for 5 years degree course of DoP.

The out-reach Programs based on humanitarian and welfare organization, HPC is playing a vital role in relief activities for the people with physical disabilities through holding free medical camps in different parts of the province.

It has also worked for the medical rehabilitation of earth quake affected and IDPs. He said our main objective is to rehabilitate and minimize the problems of physically disabled persons, provide standard physiotherapy facilities, arrange free physiotherapy camps for identification, assessment and treatment besides arranging seminars, workshops for awareness and reaching the unreached for sharing the knowhow and emphasizing the need for physiotherapy including provide training in the field of physiotherapy for developing skilled human resources.

Earlier, final year students Seema Gul, Hajra Farman, Dr. Rizwana Rehman, Dr. Faiza Irshad, Sr. Syed Hammad, Dr. Amna Sadozai presented their research work besides sharing their experienced regarding humanitarian contributions in 2005 Earthquake and 2010 devastated flood.

Ahmad Hussain and Adnan highlighted the services being rendered by Pakistan Red Crescent since its establishment in 1947 by father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. They advised the youth to come forward for the humanitarian services besides adopt volunteerism in life.

The Red Crescent society has helped millions of Pakistanis overcome disease and disaster, by offering support services for Pakistanis, which include, food, clean water, and medical services. In 2010 after one of the largest floods in Pakistani history, the Red Crescent Society provided much needed support to native Pakistani's who were without food or water.

They also joined forces with the Red Cross in this effort, and were given $100,000 in aid to combat the devastation of the flood. Later, certifices of excellence were distributed among Urooj Yousafzai, Bahadur Khan, Wali Gul, Kainat Khan, Ayman Yousafzai, Maliha Qurashi, Ishrat Fastima and Momina.
