People Want Progress, Not Sit-ins: Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Nov, 2016 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that tremendous work is being carried out for early completion of energy projects.
Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-N, here Saturday, he said 1320-megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Plant would be completed far earlier than the stipulated period and it would start generating electricity from the beginning of next year.
He said Sahiwal Coal Power Plant was exemplary with regard to speed and quality, and with the grace of Almighty Allah, this project would become a masterpiece of Pak-China friendship. The Chief Minister said the government was paying special attention towards 3600-megawatt gas-based projects and work was continuing speedily on these projects in the province.
He said the Federal and Punjab governments were setting up gas power plants and that the completion of gas power projects of 3600 megawatt would help overcome loadshedding. He said these projects had been acquired on minimum rates and national resources of Rs 112 billion had been saved in these projects.
Shehbaz Sharif said cheap electricity would be available to the people through gas-based energy projects. Defeated elements while indulging in negative politics created hindrance in the journey of progress through sit-ins and showed enmity to the country and the nation for their personal interests, he added.
He said energy projects were also delayed due to these sit-ins opposing progress of the country and prosperity of the people. The Chief Minister said people had rejected the agenda of elements staging sit-ins and proved that they want progress and prosperity of the country and not sit-ins.
That's why, the negative politics of the elements trying to create anarchy in the country had been rejected, he added. He said under the able leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PML-N government would honour promises made to the people.
