PMDC Announces Results Of Foreign Graduate Exam Step-III

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -10th Sept,2016) : Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Saturday announced the results of the National Examination Board (NEB) step-III OSCE/VIVA (Part I,II,III).
The exam was taken from those Pakistani nationals who had done their basic medical qualifications from abroad. The exam was conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad simultaneously.
The exam was conducted in three steps. In exam (step I) held on 2nd June 2016, total 2122 candidates appeared from which 205 candidates passed the exam. In the exam (step II) held on 3rd June 2016, total 722 candidates appeared from which 299 candidates declared successful.
In the NEB Step-III exam (OSCE / VIVA) was held in three parts. In part I on 8th September 150 candidates appeared from which 114 got success. Part II was held on 9th September 2016 total 150 candidates appeared and from which 149 got success and part III held on September 19, total 153 candidates were appeared of them 152 declared successful with 91% result.
Each candidate was practically assessed on 15 different stations and the candidate were given 10 minutes time to check the patient. Faculty of 12 medical colleges consisting of professor, associate professors and assistant professors were used as examiners who assessed the candidates.
After completing all the steps and parts the passed candidates will be registered with the PMDC as doctors after getting notification by the Ministry of National Health Services. The Executive Committee of PMDC supervised the whole exam to ensure transparency in the examination including Prof Dr Abid Farooqi, Prof Gen Khaliq Naveed, Dr Amir Hussain, Prof Dr Ejaz Hassan Khan, Dr Khayal ul Rehman Afridi, Dr Mussarat Hussain, Dr Taj Muhammad and Dr Syed Azher Ali Shah (Acting Registrar PMDC), Dr A Q Javed (Ministry of National Health Services).
While talking to media Dr Amir Hussain member Executive Committee emphasized that the PMDC council has been succeeded to hold a transparent exams and more than 91% passing ratio of result shows a huge success on the part of PM&DC.
He added that the Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar also assured her full support to eradicate any type of nepotism in the process of the examination. Council Member PMDC Dr Khayal ul Rehman told that PMDC Council was working to eradicate corruption from PMDC and added that all the PMDC members are on board to monitor the NEB examining system to ensure transparency in the examination.
Dr Mussarat Hussain, member Executive Committee told that the purpose of this examination was to evaluate the competency and clinical skills of the graduates in order to issue them the license to practice and register their foreign qualifications as required under the law.
Acting Registrar PMDC Dr Syed Azhar Ali Shah said that all the procedure of exam was completed successfully and the examiners were invited from all over country to ensure transparency. All the members of the council after the exam met with the candidates who appeared in the exam to know their problems and concerns as candidates to address their issues in the next exams.
