SMU Delegation On Two-day Study Tour Of Austria

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Nov, 2016 ) : A delegation of Chief Minister Punjab's Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) under the leadership of Senior Member SMU Salman Sufi visited Vienna, Austria for two-day study tour.

The delegation met with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Austria, Ms. Ayesha Riaz who warmly welcomed Salman Sufi and appreciated the groundbreaking reforms being introduced by SMU, says a handout issued here on Thursday.

The purpose of the tour was to learn from international best practices pertaining to the effective eradication of Violence Against Women (VAW) crimes that can be applied to the operations of Violence Against Women Centers (VAWCs) being established in the province.

The VAWCs will be the first of their kind comprehensive justice delivery systems in South Asia containing all services ranging from police reporting, registration of criminal cases, medical examination, collection of forensic and other evidence as well as provision of rehabilitation.

The government of Punjab is keen to partner with the Austrian organizations working to eradicate Violence Against Women.
