U.S. provided gadgets worth US$ 25 million to Sindh Police since 2012

The United States Government has provided more than US$ 25 million worth of equipment besides helping train over 50,000 Sindh Police officers under a collaboration with the Sindh Police since 2012.

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2018 ) :The United States Government has provided more than US$ 25 million worth of equipment besides helping train over 50,000 Sindh Police officers under a collaboration with the Sindh Police since 2012.

United States Consul General JoAnne Wagner addressing the ceremony to inaugurate Firearms Simulators donated by United States to Increase Police Training Capacity and Operational Readiness of Sindh Police explained the reasons for the continued support to the police department.

"The United States provides assistance to Sindh because we recognize that its police serve on the front lines of Pakistan's efforts to combat violent extremism and build a more secure, stable, and democratic society," she said.

During the ceremony held at Saeedabad Police Training College, Karachi Sindh police chief, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam received over 377 million rupees (2.

7 million USD) worth of firearms simulators to improve the capacity of the institution and increase its ability to deliver safe and proper firearms training for police personnel.

The donation came from the U.S. Mission Pakistan.

The United States Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs was said to work in more than 90 countries to help countries combat crime and corruption, counter drug-related offence, improve police institutions, and promote laws and court systems that are fair and accountable.

On the occasion Sindh Inspector General of Police along with other officials of the department also demonstrated the application of simulators aimed at enhancing professional capacities of the cops in realizing their responsibilities towards public protection against criminals.
