First KP Archery Club Promoting Male, Female Archers: Sara Khan

Sara Khan, an athlete and Archer from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is promoting females and males archery on modern and scientific lines at first Archery Academy set up her in the province.

Talking to APP, Sara Khan said now the game of archery is strengthening roots in Pakistan but still needs more modern techniques and high quality equipment.
She said it was an honor for her that she was the first female archer from KP and so had she established the academy with a view to explore the potential in females as well as male from the province in the field.
She said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is lacking such facilities, "Initially, there were so many hurdles in her way and due to financial crunch things were very hard to manage," she said, adding, "I have made many requests to attract sponsors for running the affairs of the academy but no one is interested to come forward." However, Sara said that now her academy was being supported by Pakistan Sports board (PSB) Coaching Center Peshawar, adding that a young archer Israr who is practicing in her club has become the national archer and currently among the top ranking archer of the country.
Muskan, hailing from FATA, is also training with her at her Academy and she also got medals in Quaid-e-Azam Games and Inter-Provincial Games.
She said they are imparting training to both boys and girls but main focus has been given to girls' archery. The aim and objective of the academy to find out new talent and polish them so that they could come up at national and international levels, she said.
"We could not afford to waste the exiting talent in the game and that is why the academy is providing quality training and coaching to the kids as we have already producing national level archer who proved their skills in various national level events by representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," she further added.
She also thanked President Pakistan Archery Federation Arif Hassan, Secretary General Muhammad Wisal, President KP Archery Association Syed Aqil Shah for extending all out support to her.
"I took it as a challenge by establishing the first archery academy being a female and I'm sure enough that the academy would play a very positive role in the days to come by training and coaching boys and girls archers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," Miss Sara Khan said.
"I also made a request to Director General Sports Junaid Khan for sponsoring at least archery equipment and hopefully the way he is working by developing sports infrastructure in the province besides extending support to the sportsmen and sportsmen he could keep a regular grant for the Archery Academy like given to the associations," she remarked.
"We want to have modern day facilities and equipment in the academy as the arrows and bows are very much expensive, specially the quality arrows for 35m and 70m training and made request for financial help toprivate as well as public sector financial institutions," she concluded.
