Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Nov, 2018 ) :Pakistan Federation Baseball is holding 15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship from December 25 at Aashiq Hussain Baseball Stadium, Bahria Town here.

"The national premier women baseball activity is a step forward to further promote baseball among womenfolk," said Sheikh Mazhar, secretary, PFB while talking to APP on Friday.

He said the event had been named after the late former president, PFB, Khawar Shah, who rendered meritorious services for the cause of the game at home and abroad. "It is the best way to acknowledge the efforts of the late PBF official for introduction and promotion of the game in Pakistan," he asserted.

He said teams affiliated with the PFB including Pakistan Army, WAPDA, Pakistan Police, HEC, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Islamabad, Balochistan and FATA will showcase their talent and technique in the five-day competition.

He said Chairman PFB Shoukat Javed has formed a committee for smooth conduct of the championship.

The PFB secretary, while briefly throwing light on the efforts of the Federation for the overall development of the game among women, said regular baseball events are being organised annually to motivate women to take up baseball as a sport.

"We are also ensuring participation of our women team in the international baseball events on regular basis which is ensuring the progress of our women team at international level which is evident from their current ranking," he said.

He said that during the championship, players will be selected for the National Training Camp of Pakistan Women Baseball Team for the participation in 2nd Asian Women's Baseball Championship 2019 in China.
