Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) is all set to transform into a federation as to convince Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for its affiliation to make it a more vibrant body.
Talking to APP, PSA Director Youth Programme Tariq Pervez said the process to convert PSA into a federation would be started next week.
All the provincial bodies would be affiliated with PSA and then will seek for PSB's approval, he said.
Merit will be the only procedure for transforming the body into a federation.
Earlier, I had meetings with former Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada and former PSB Director General Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera but it could not bear fruits for the affiliation.
He said he will be meeting with IPC Minister Dr. Fahmida Mirza in the coming days to seek her help in this regard.
While mentioning Association's achievements, he said Pakistan team created history and won all six categories of the Junior Scrabble World Championship in Torquay, England held last month.
"Our 5 players won the world championship in different categories of the Junior World Scrabble Championship played at Nottingham, England in August 2017.
The champions included Ahad Riaz (Under-18), Sohaib Sanaullah (U-16), Hamza Naeem (U-14). "Imaad Ali and Monis Khan also retained their titles in u-12 and u-10 categories," he said and added scrabble has brought more world titles to Pakistan than any other sport.
Tariq said Pakistan scrabble team has plentiful of achievements in their kitty but all it needs is a proper platform (PSB's affiliation) so that it can utilize the game's talent in a more beneficial way.
