Egyptian President To Tackle Terrorism in Africa as AU Head - AU Parliament Vice President

ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi will be able to use his experience in tackling terrorism as the next head of the African Union (AU), Stephen Masele, the first vice president of the AU Pan-African Parliament and a member of parliament in Tanzania, told Sputnik on Sunday.

"We support President Sisi, we support Egypt's presidency because we believe that President Sisi has a huge task now to fight terrorism, which is becoming a new threat in Africa. He can use his experience as he has done in Egypt, so I believe that he will do a good job this time around for the coming year," Masele said on the sidelines of the 32nd AU Summit, which is currently underway in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.

Egypt is taking over AU chairmanship from Rwanda at the summit.
