Russia, China Sign Set of Cooperation Documents Following Putin-Xi Talks at EEF

The meeting held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which is currently underway in the Russian Far East, has resulted in the signing of a set of documents.

VLADIVOSTOK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th September, 2018) The meeting held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which is currently underway in the Russian Far East, has resulted in the signing of a set of documents.

The documents signed include a memorandum of understanding on the development of Russian-Chinese trade, economic and investment cooperation in the Far East in 2018-2024, a memorandum of understanding on the creation of a business council of the Russian Far East and Baikal Region and the northeastern region of China.

A memorandum of understanding on the strengthening of Russian-Chinese regional industrial and investment cooperation in the Far East was also signed.

The representatives of the two countries' Olympic Committees signed a memorandum of understanding, while the Russian Far Eastern Federal University and the Chinese academy of Social Sciences signed an agreement on the creation of research centers in Russia and in China.

Russian trucks and engines manufacturer Kamaz and Chinese diesel engines company Weichai Power signed an agreement outlining the rights of the Kamaz-Weichai joint venture members.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Xi is participating for the first time ever in the EEF at Putin's invitation.

The fourth EEF started earlier on Tuesday and will last through Thursday on the island of Russky in the Russian city of Vladivostok. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is the general information partner of the forum.
