WTO Reform Needs 'Political Momentum' From G20, G7 - EU Trade Commissioner

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th November, 2018) EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom on Friday called for more engagement from the G20 and G7 political clubs in reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The commissioner said, in a speech at a conference in Paris, the union would bring its proposals on WTO reforms to this month's G20 summit in Buenos Aires.
"But this is of course only the start of the process. We will need political momentum. That's why the G20 and G7 is so important ... This is the time to walk the talk, to really start engaging," she stressed.
She cautioned that unilateral measures in violation of WTO rules were a "slippery slope where one false step can lead to collapse of the whole rules-based system."
