Govt Plants 1208 Mln Saplings Under BTTP: KP Assembly Informed

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was informed on Tuesday that the PTI's provincial government had planted as many as 1208 million sapling under its Billion Tree Tsunami Afforestation Project (BTTA) including 48,68,77,178 saplings bought from government nurseries.
The Minister for Environment in a written reply to a question of MPA Shagufta Mailk of ANP during question hour session told the House that the concerned forest divisions purchased the saplings from the private nurseries at a rate of Rs 6 per plant in plastic bag and Rs 9 without the bag.
The house informed that Rs 165 million saplings were distributed to NGOs and government departments for plantations, adding that in Peshawar district, the forest division planted 3.12 million plants in Peshawar, Charsadda 0.89 million and Nowshera 1.72 million.
The Minister for law on behalf of Minister for Forest to another question of Malik Badshah Saleh informed the House that during the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 a total 2159 FIRs were registered against the accused involved in illegal cutting of forest in Sub-Division Sheraingal and Sub-Division Dir.
He further said that 1139 cases were decided where Rs 2.35 million penalty was recovered from the accused and submitted to National kitty while Rs 4.77 million were given to Forest Officers as reward.
To a question of ANP parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak, Minister for Minerals told that from year 2013-14 to 2017-18 the government paid Rs 5.3 million under the head of education scholarship to children of Mines laborers in PK-22 of district Bunner.
He said a total 11.37 million were earned annually in PK-22 district Bunner from the financial year 2013-14 to 2017-18 under the head of mines income, adding the amountwas spend on various welfare projects for laborers.
