Gazprom CEO To Attend Russia-Ukraine-EC Gas Consultations In Brussels - Sources

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th January, 2019) Russian energy giant Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller will attend trilateral consultations on gas between Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission in Brussels on January 21, sources familiar with the preparations for the meeting told Sputnik.

The European Commission earlier said Gazprom would be represented at the talks by the deputy chairman of the company's management committee, Alexander Medvedev.

The trilateral gas consultations between Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission were preceded by the trilateral expert consultations conducted on Tuesday.

The parties are holding negotiations amid the ongoing conflict between Russia's Gazprom and Ukraine's Nafrogaz.

Ukraine stopped purchasing gas from Russia in November 2015, and since then did not use the Russian fuel in the country's central heating systems. The current contract for the Russian gas transit through the Ukrainian territory expires in the end of this year.
