Russia's GPD growth figure for the first quarter of 2019 is expected to stand at 0.3 percent in comparison to the fourth quarter of 2018, Bank of Russia's Director of Research and Forecasting Department Alexander Morozov said Thursday
"Model estimations ... give 0.
3 percent quarter-over-quarter in the first quarter, taking into account seasonal adjustments," Morozov said on the sidelines of the Gaidar Forum, adding that the estimation also included effects of the value added tax (VAT) rate increase in Russia.
The VAT in Russia grew 2 percent from January 1 to the current total of 20 percent.
The Gaidar Forum is an annual international event, uniting scientists and practitioners for discussions on social, economic, and political matters. The 10th edition of the forum is taking place in Moscow on January 15-17. The Rossiya Segodnya media group is an official information partner of the event.
