The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, has started to observe a week of global entrepreneurship during which the students would be encouraged to start their own small business after graduation.
Speaking on the occasion on Monday MUET's Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili said the educationists should ponder over the innovative ways of making their students productive.
"We need to pull ourselves out of the traditional and old-school ways of education and learning," he underlined.
He observed that until a few decades ago the time was for the companies like Fuji, Agfa and Kodak but today most of the people did not even remember their Names.
"These companies didn't change with the time therefore they vanished in history," he said.
Uqaili said similar changes were occurring in the field of higher education and if the teachers did not adapted to the change the education would suffer.
The VC said to begin small-scale start-ups there was need of the innovative minds.
"The government jobs are fast depleting in comparison with the number of graduates. Therefore, we need best entrepreneurs for the small businesses," he said.
The Dean Faculty of Sciences and Humanities Dr Samiuddin Qureshi said the whole world marked the week of global entrepreneurship and the MUET had started marking the week as well.
The Manager IEC Dr Zulfiqar Ali Umrani briefed the participants about MUET's different business initiatives and programs.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Taha Hussain Ali and other faculty members of MUET and officers attended the event.
