UVAS Department Of Parasitology Sign Agreement With Two Scientist From Roslin Institute As Part Of Collaborative Project (CTLGH)

The Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has signed an agreement as part of collaborative project named the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) with Director of International Veterinary Vaccinology Network Dr Timothy Connelley and Research scientist Dr Umer Naveed Chaudhry both scientist from Roslin Institute
LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2018 ) : The Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has signed an agreement as part of collaborative project named the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) with Director of International Veterinary Vaccinology Network Dr Timothy Connelley and Research scientist Dr Umer Naveed Chaudhry both scientist from Roslin Institute, The University of Edinburgh, UK. Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Asharaf, Dr Timothy Connelley and Dr Umer Naveed Chaudhry signed the agreement at the UVAS City Campus Lahore on Thursday while UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha was also present on the occasion. Under the agreement, Dr Timothy Connelley and Dr Umer Naveed Chaudhry will organise a semiar and some trainings during their visits in UVAS on laboratry techniques being used for preparation of DNA/RNA from the samples, will provide required laboratory consumables to prepare the sampels will cover the cost of sequencing of the sampels at Roslin Institute The University of Edinburgh, UK.
The Roslin Institute will also provide training to UVAS Department of Parasitology students and faculty staff on Theileria vaccine research.
Both parties will exchange relevent academia participants/faculty member for training pupose to the institute in UK from UVAS department of Parasitology will be co-author on any patents and publication arising from the samples.
Earlier addressing the agreement signing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that in our country livestock sector facing challenges regarding diagnosis of parasitic deadly diseases which is impediment involve in the profitability of poor livestock farming community.
He said this collaboration would be very affective for both institutions in the promotion of education and research. Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf also spoke about the purpose and benefits of the collaboration.
He said UVAS department of Parasitology working actively to control parasitic diseases in livestock. UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Imran Rashid, Dr Imtiaz Rabbani and other faculty members attended.
