6th Multi disciplinary Robotic Surgery Workshop to start on Thursday

Three-day multi disciplinary international workshop on minimal invasive robotics (MIR) surgery will open at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation here on Thursday

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) :Three-day multi disciplinary international workshop on minimal invasive robotics (MIR) surgery will open at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation here on Thursday.

The workshop, sixth in the series of relevant category, was said to be part of an ongoing MIR surgical conference at SIUT that itself was of significant importance in the healthcare system of the country.

It is for the first time that use of robotic surgery in the fields of urology, gynecology and general surgery is being carried out in a hospital, said the organizers here on Wednesday.

Internationally acclaimed surgeons Prof Shamim Khan of King's College, Prof Matin Khalid Sheriff from Guy and St Thomas Hospital of London and Dr Tariq Tasaddaq Consulting Urologist from University College London will conduct these workshops.

Others to join them during the three day exercise were said to be Dr Faiz Mumtaz consultant Urologist of Royal Free Hospital London, Prof.

Amjad Pervaiz from NHS Foundation Trust and Kankipati Shanti Raju, consulting gynecologist at Guy's and St Thomas Hospitals of London.

Robotics surgery considered to be the surgery of the future in the world of medical sciences was described as enormously beneficial procedure for any surgical patient as it is less invasive and patients are discharged early as compared to traditional surgical procedure.

Tertiary care hospitals the world over prefers to acquire the skills of this technology as a part of keeping themselves abreast with new technology in specialized fields, said SIUT officials.

The event was mentioned to be organized in collaboration with Civil Hospital Karachi and Dow University of Health Sciences.
