PHOTA, DTI Spain Sign MoU For Cadaveric Transplantation

A Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation has been signed between Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) and Donation Transplantation Foundation Institute (DTI) Spain
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2017 ) :A Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation has been signed between Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) and Donation Transplantation Foundation Institute (DTI) Spain.
Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical education Khawaja Salman Rafique witnessed the signing ceremony held here on Saturday. According to the MoU both the institutions wish to enter into the statement of intentions in order to implement a group of action that could increase the organs donation in the Punjab.
PHOTA will collaborate with DTI in order to develop training programme addressed to healthcare professionals linked with organ donation, develop programmes related with organ donation for transplantation.
The both institutions will cooperate globally to improve organ donations and transplantation activities. The Punjab Minister said on the occasion that the agreement will come into effect immediately and will be applicable for three years, renewable yearly.
Salman said that the DTI will cooperate to develop training activities through its Transplant Procurement Management (TPM) and to develop projects in the field of donation and transplantation with the aim to increase opportunities for access to transplantation and to improve human living conditions.
Chairman Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Lahore Dr Saeed Akhtar, Director Technical PHOTA Dr Ghulam Murtaza and other members of the Pakistani delegation attended the ceremony . Earlier, in a conference held in connection with cadaveric transplant donation, Chairman PKLI Dr Saeed Akhtar delivered his lecture on the subject.
He said that the Punjab government is establishing a state of the art PKLI to provide transplantation facility of liver and kidney and the institution would be inaugurated in the next month. Punjab Minister Health Salman Rafique and the members of his delegation were also present. Medical experts/surgeons from different countries also spoke on the occasion.
