ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Aug, 2018 ) :In Indian occupied Kashmir, amid growing uproar over inhuman treatment meted out to Kashmiri detainees in different Indian jails, the High Court of the territory has directed all Principal District Judges (PDJs) to submit reports online on the condition of jails within their jurisdiction to the Registry of the Court.
According to Kahsmir media service, a division bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe stressing that the district judges were required to submit the reports regularly after inspecting the jails, held that in the interest of justice such reports needed to be submitted online.
"We therefore direct the Central Project Coordinator (CPC), e-courts attached to this court to take steps for the development of appropriate software at the earliest so that proper scrutiny of the compliance can effectively be conducted," the bench said.
The court directed its Registrar Judicial to prepare a compilation of the status reports which various PDJs submit in keeping with the Criminal Procedure Code and directions of the High Court.
Following the submission by Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom appearing on behalf of the Kashmir High Court Bar Association that he had not received the copies of the status reports filed by the PDJs, the court ordered that the reports be furnished to him within a week.
After advocate Mian Qayoom drew attention of the court to the report submitted by PDJ Srinagar with regard to under-trials including the juveniles who are not being produced before the courts, the court directed him to immediately compile such list to enable the court to take action for non-compliance of directions.
