Speakers Call For Int'l Commission To Investigate Human Rights Violations In IOK

Speakers here on Saturday at a seminar, organized by Kashmir Media Service, demanded an International Commission of Inquiry for a comprehensive and independent investigation into human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
They expressed these views while welcoming the recent reports on Jammu and Kashmir, launched by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC's) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and All-Party Parliamentary Kashmir Group in the British Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion they also demanded repeal of draconian laws and halt to use of pellet guns on peaceful protesters in the territory.
They said the Indian government should respect Kashmiris' right to self-determination and asked the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Pakistan governments to incorporate Kashmir studies in relevant courses.
They underlined the need for incorporating the plight of innocent kashmiris in educational curriculum to sensitize youth about atrocities being committed by Indian forces since long with impunity.
While chairing the conference, Leader of the House in Senate, Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq emphasized for raising voice against violation of human rights against innocent people of Indian Occupied Kashmir at every relevant forum.
He said that more than two dozen United Nations and OIC resolutions had been passes and none of the country in the world had ever opposed the resolution on self determination of Kashmiries.
Kashmir had never been the part of India and nor it would be, he said and added "it is openly violation of international laws by the India by occupying Kashmir." All political parties, institutions and masses were on same page regarding Kashmir issue, he added.
Director Islamic Society Toronto Dr Zafar Bangash speaking on the occasion as chief guest said; "we are working on Kashmir issue from thirty years. We should collectively play our role to expose the atrocities of Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir at international level." He stressed the need to use the social media in this regard and sensitize youth about Kashmir issue at university level.
Director Foreign Affairs on Kashmir Sheraz Asif said that for the first time the voices were being raised at international forum regarding Kashmir issue.
We should together have to raise the Kashmir issue in front of the world, he added. He further said that India was violating the human rights law openly in Jammu and Kashmir.
The conference was also addressed by the, Zafar Bangash, Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dr Tughral Yamin, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam, Altaf Wani and Ali Raza Syed.
