292626 children to be immunized during anti polio campaign

MIRPURKHAS, Jan.4 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : The Deputy Commissioner, Syed Mehdhi Ali Shah on Wednesday said that four day Anti Polio campaign will be held from January 16 to 19 during which 292626 children under the age of 5 years would be immunized in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner was chairing a high level meeting at his office to review arrangements made for upcoming anti polio drive in the district. According to a handout, upcoming campaign was particularly designed to cover those areas where people were still refusing to immunize their children so that all refusal cases could be covered.

The District Health Officer, Dr. Ghulam Hyder Akhund, District Surveillance officer Dr. Khalid and Focal Person Polio Eradication Programme, Dr. Narain Das told the meeting that Mirpurkhas district was very sensitive after polio cases had been reported in its neighboring districts.

They informed the meeting that steps had already been taken to achieve 100 percent immunization target and all stake holders have been directed to keep in close coordination with each other.

The meeting was informed that total 757 teams have been formed, out of which 579 mobile, 105 fixed point and 73 transit point teams were included, however 205 motorcycle mobile teams would also be deputed to cover rural areas of the district for vaccination of the children.

They told the meeting that 51 Union Council Medical Officers and 158 area Incharges have been given responsiblities to look after the campaign. The Additional Deputy Commissioner II Syed Inayat Ali Shah, all Assistant Commissioners of the district, Regional Director Private Institutions, Abdul Hameed Shaikh, Area Coordinator W.H.O Dr.

Rajesh Kumar, representative of W.H.O Dr. Sayed Mushtaque Shah, District Population officer Raza Ali Baloch, Assistant Director Local Government Fakhir Shakir, Civil Society actvisit Muhammad Bux Kapri, Health Department’s Dr. Naseer Shaikh, Dr. Saeed Arrain and others were attended the meeting.
