36,000 SMCs Effective In Sindh To Monitor Schools: Jam Mehtab

KARACHI, Nov 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that 36,000 school Management Committees (SMCs) are working across the province to enhance educational standard and ensure transparent utilization of funds while 1,065 schools have been merged under consolidation policy.
This he said while talking to a delegation of European Union led by EU Ambassador Jean-Francois Cautain in his office on Wednesday. Secretary colleges Dr. Riaz Ahmed Memon and Secretary Schools Dr.
Fazullah Pechuhu were also present on the occasion. The Minister appreciated the role of international donors in increasing enrolment of the students and standard of education in Sindh. The EU Ambassador while assuring his full support for improvement of education in the province, informed the Provincial Minister Education that the EU had provided budgetary support of 36 millions Euros to Government of Sindh through Sindh Education Sector Support Program and promoting quality education and access in Primary and secondary education.
He added that presently, the EU has launched an identification mission for SES of 70 million Euros for enhancing capacity building of the heads of educational institutions. The Provincial Minister said that there was a dire need to form a forum at provincial level for better coordination between the government and international donors.
Union Council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen are going to engage at UCs level to pay regular visits to the schools and monitor educational activities in the schools, he concluded.
