ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Jan, 2018 ) :Extraneous efforts were underway to convert the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) into a think tank to ensure the interpretation of Islamic laws in true spirit and ensure social cohesion.
Talking to media, CII Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz said the CII would be activated on modern lines. The council had decided to arrange workshops on various topics on the rights of non Muslims, transgenders and rights of Muslims minorities in other countries, he said and added, Ulema, experts and intellectuals would deliver lectures.
He said the issue of digital Currency (Bit Coin) had been referred to research wing of the council. A workshop would also be arranged for capacity building of journalists, he added.
The need had multiplied to ensure internal cohesion after the anti Pakistan comments of US President Donald Trump keeping in view China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said.
He said the CII would hold a symposium titled What is Seminary on January 11. The chairman informed that Former Chairman Madrassa education board Dr Aamir Taseen would deliver a lecture on recently published book of Professor Ibrahim Musa of American University.
Another seminar titled Council of Islamic Ideology and law making; character and expectations would be held in which Syed Salman Nadvi, a professor for South African University and the son of Allama Syed Suleman Nadvi would deliver a lecture on January 9 at conference hall of the CII.
